West End Center

This center is located in a West End Neighborhood House building on the west side of the city. The center is located about 1 ½ blocks from St. Francis Hospital. Many years ago, this building was the home of the 8th Street Baptist Church.

         The West End Center has seven classrooms with a total capacity for 116 children.  

         About thirty percent of the children who attend the West End Center are Hispanic and many of them start the school year speaking only Spanish. There are several bilingual staff at the West End Center to assist these children and families.

         We collaborate with The Literacy Delaware organization to offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for the parents/relatives of the children in the program who are interested in improving their English communication skills.
